Bespoke web developers should take care that the sites they are responsible for stand out, as many clients are becoming more specific about what they want from their ecommerce portal
This is according to Fran Howarth of ITProPortal, who commented that websites have evolved "from being static brochureware" and now offer much higher levels of consumer interaction.
She suggested that web developers - particularly those working for a smaller agency - should look to a package of tools and services to help them meet this demand.
These, she noted, can help agencies locate potential customers and partners, while providing them with access to the latest web gadgets and applications that have been developed to industry standards.
"Many larger agencies will have the resources to find and afford such services themselves, but for the smallest, micro-design firm under stiff competition, such an all-encompassing service will be vital," Ms Howarth commented.
The importance of bespoke website development was recently highlighted through the success of insurer Endsleigh, which noted a significant improvement - a 12.5 per cent rise in visitors and a 36 per cent reduction in bounce rates - since it completed an overhaul of its site.
