Young people between the ages of 13 and 19 with an interest in web design are being encouraged to join a community scheme in Halton.
As part of the Aiming High strategy, a scheme devised by the Department for Schools Children and Families, local teenagers are responsible for the design and management of Halton4Teenz.com, which acts as a directory of things to do and places to go for young people in the community.
While the site has only been live for a few weeks, it has already received hundreds of hits, according to the government department.
There are plenty of ways for young people to get involved in the project, according to Marie Wright, executive board member for the community at Halton Borough Council.
She explained that in addition to web design, teenagers are also needed to interview young people and review activities taking place in the community as part of the online service.
The site currently offers an event calendar and will eventually include videos, games and a place for teens to design their own blog.
