Bespoke website design should take into account the need to keep pages regularly updated in order to successfully interact with visitors.
Readers of the Econsultancy blog were asked to come up with ideas on what the secret is to a successful website.
One contributor said: "Finding the time to keep the website regularly updated. We have things listed that are constantly changing and it is not always easy to find the time to update them.
"We don't want to have just a static website, we want something that offers something interesting to people so they might check back every so often."
One way of ensuring content is regularly updated is to integrate a blog or social media into the web design in the first place.
Other suggestions from web development experts included not sacrificing quality by the need to quickly get the site up and running and to distribute resources according to where the best return of investment will be.
