A retail website selling glasses and eyewear products had a merchant seal incorporated within the web design to improve its conversion rates.
The buySAFE seal, which ensures a "safe, reliable and independently guaranteed online shopping environment" for visitors, was put on the EyeBuyDirect website.
After running A/B tests, the retailer found that its conversion rate was 9.6 per cent higher among those who were directed to a version of the website with the seal compared to those visiting a version without it.
Jeff Grass, chief executive of buySAFE, said: "Through merchant certification, daily monitoring and enabling shoppers to enjoy added peace of mind, buySAFE is able to provide a safe, reliable and independently guaranteed online shopping environment."
Another web design solution recently highlighted was the integration of social media buttons as a means of getting people to share links.
Research by widget creator Gigya showed that Facebook was the most popular social media platform for sharing links, followed by Twitter and Yahoo.
