Sprint has announced that it is to launch its first 4G phone this summer, with the news likely to be of interest to online retailers keen to target their website design to mobile audiences.
At present, the company already offers 4G coverage, which it claims is up to ten times faster than 3G coverage, via modems and PC cards, rather than through android phones.
However, all this is set to change as Sprint has confirmed that it is to lead the way in the roll out of 4G mobile technology with the official launch of its new handset before the end of the summer, Forbes has reported.
Notably, the report cited the company's president for business markets, Paget Alves, in stating that a " universal 'need for speed' means businesses and government agencies -not just consumers-will likely adopt Sprint's 4G phone when it debuts", thereby making it imperative that enterprises adjust their website design so as to make use of this new channel.
This comes in the same week that Mozilla's Jay Sullivan revealed in an interview with TechRadar that its Firefox browser will be released onto the Android platform before the end of the year.
