A new tool could help businesses refine their web development requirements for the mobile internet.
Webtrends has released a mobile analytics service that can measure how customers are engaging with mobile websites and applications.
Called Webtrends Mobile Analytics, it allows users to track customer experience, including their browsing patters, as well as giving an insight into exactly what devices they are using.
With such a variety of mobile platforms now around, and the browsing experience varying among different handsets, the tool could clearly help the user get a better idea of what they want from their website design.
Nick Sharp, vice president of Webtrends for EMEA & Australasia, said: "Marketers need an effective tool which will allow them to measure and optimize their mobile assets and applications alongside the rest of their customer intelligence data."
According to GSMA Mobile Media Metrics, 16 million people accessed the internet through their mobile device in December.
It is estimated that global sales of smartphones grew by 30 per cent last year compared to 2008.
