Mozilla's Firefox will be made available on the Android platform by the end of this year, it has been revealed.
The browser, which has long been available on computers, is already on a few Nokia devices, but it will soon be available to many more users.
In an interview with TechRadar, Jay Sullivan from Mozilla said he was keen for the browser to jump onto the Android platform.
He said: "It's a modern OS, and it's a great fit with us. It's the type of platform that has a high affinity with the early adopter, and it's seen a lot of uptake."
With Google recently announcing that 60,000 Android handsets are being sold every day, the news will certainly be of interest to anyone involved in web design or development.
The news comes after Opera recently unveiled its prototype of a proposed browser application for the iPhone.
It has yet to be approved by Apple, who already have their own browser, Safari, pre-loaded onto handsets.
