Adobe has announced that AIR will be made available on the Android platform, allowing for richer applications.
Expected to be available some time this year, it is promised that AIR will result in better applications, taking advantage of mobile features such as multi-touch, geolocations and screen orientation.
AIR works outside of the browser and can leverage features from Adobe Flash Player 10.1 to improve the user experience.
Christy Wyatt, vice president of Software Applications and Ecosystem at Motorola said: "Adobe AIR 2.0 is a great technology for developing engaging mobile applications.
"We look forward to seeing AIR come to the Android platform and developers creating applications that will delight our end-users."
The announcement was made at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where many of the major handset manufacturers have gathered.
New Android devices unveiled at the event include the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and the HTC Legend, while Microsoft has also launched its new operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series.
