Faster speeds achieved through bespoke web development could improve websites

16th February 2010

An expert has stressed the importance of fast loading speeds to the effectiveness of a website.

In an article for SmartCompany, an Australian resource for small businesses, Chris Thomas, an online retail expert, explains how conversion can be affected by slow websites.

He says: "Research shows that website conversion rates are improved when a website is lightening fast, as people spend less time waiting and more time browsing in their task-based mindset."

Thomas also speculates about how Google may, in the future, factor loading times into its algorithm, potentially affecting the search engine optimization of the website.

Any businesses with slow-running pages may want to look into some web development, and Google has given some ideas for speeding things up, including optimizing JavaScript code and using compression tools.

Writing for Suite101 recently, Jennifer Marsh emphasised the importance of unique content to improving page rankings, as well as the significance of website speeds to their effectiveness.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19619382-ADNFCR
