A total of 100 million people have now signed up to the Facebook Mobile service so they can use the social networking site wherever they go.
Writing for the official Facebook blog, Chamath Palihaptiya commented that the announcement comes less than six months after the social network reported that 65 million people were actively using the service.
In an effort to accommodate the increasing number of mobile internet users, Facebook has launched two sites with handsets in mind - which allows people to access the social networking site from all mobile browsers.
"With the explosion of smart phones, we want to make sure people have a great Facebook experience that scales with their device especially as people have begun to upgrade their devices more frequently," he commented.
Business product designer NEBS has anticipated that social networks are set to further expand and develop in the coming year, which may be something bespoke web designers may wish to take into account.
