The battle is still ongoing among mobile application development experts deciding whether to use HTML or Flash platforms for their programs.
That is according to CNet writer Stephen Shankland, who noted that the debate has become more important since the announcement of the Apple iPad, which does not come with support for Adobe Systems' Flash.
Web developers will also have to bear in mind which platform to use if the Apple device becomes as popular as its other products, as Adobe claimed that iPad users may not be able to access sites using Flash technology.
"Flash in the browser provides a competitive advantage to these devices because it will enable their customers to browse the whole web," said Kevin Lynch, chief technology officer at Adobe.
Mobile News CWP recently reported that Ben Wood, director of CSS Insight, said mobile application development could be set to surge on Android-supported devices and traditional vendors may struggle as the handsets become more popular.
