Developers of bespoke websites should more than ever be looking at adding a mobile commerce site to their platform, according to an expert.
Graham Charlton, writing for the eConsultancy blog, has advised e-marketers and internet businesses to take advantage of increased levels of mobile internet usage.
"More and more people are using their mobiles to access the web ... this means more opportunities," said Mr Charlton.
He added that in the UK, "web traffic from mobiles is ... estimated to be growing eight times faster than traffic from PCs".
Mr Charlton believes e-businesses can reap the rewards of increased exposure and relatively low development cost by setting up a mobile commerce platform.
Earlier this week, Arqiva's head of strategic development Dr Peter Crouch predicted that demand for mobile internet will rise over the forthcoming year.
Alex Johnson, meanwhile, used an IB Times article to indicate that the launch of Apple's new iPad could itself have a big impact on the numbers accesses the web through mobile phones.
