Bespoke web designers may see mobile internet 'surge'

3rd February 2010

Bespoke web designers may be interested to note that a surge in the number of people using mobile internet has been predicted by a spokesman for communications and media services firm Arqiva.

Head of strategic development Dr Peter Crouch told the Westminster eForum that he expects to see a notable surge in demand of mobile internet platforms throughout 2010.

Dr Crouch said his company expects to see a "considerable increase in demand for new mobile broadband services".

He added that this demand would be easier to meet if spectrum is made available.

"We're keen to see spectrum brought to market ... and we'll see ... [it] has a key involvement in deployment of rural broadband," added Dr Crouch.

Earlier this week (February 2nd), Alex Johnson, writing for IB Times, highlighted how the new iPad could boost the number of people using mobile internet services.

Apple's new device is expected to launch in Europe in the spring.
