Social media can 'drive e-commerce conversion'

3rd February 2010

Bespoke web designers may wish to implement social media to help drive conversions on e-commerce platforms, according to business product designer NEBS.

The company predicts that though social media is a relatively new phenomenon, it looks set to develop and expand rapidly over the year.

NEBS says that, so far, many websites and e-retailers have solely used social media to build a "positive online presence".

However, the Canadian firm predicts that a key metric in 2010 will be "social media's ability to influence ecommerce conversions".

NEBS adds that social media can be expected to undergo "explosive growth" over the course of the year.

Last week (29th January), owners of tailor-made websites were warned to keep a close eye on social media advertising.

Chief executive of the Internet Advertising Bureau Guy Phillipson noted that by studying social media platforms, online advertisers can gain a valuable insight into what interests people and how they behave online.
