Bespoke websites 'need time for social media'

Having a proper social media project in place requires time, an expert has said.

Lawrence Petty explained that time investment is necessary for maximising the effects of using social media.

He recommended getting a virtual assistant to help out if a company cannot be on the networks for very long.

According to Mr Petty, it is also important to set specific goals in social media marketing and plans should be drafted out beforehand.

However, he did also note that there are no guaranteed rules when it comes to utilising Web 2.0 and that firms will need to devise their own individual approaches.

Mr Petty has also warned that poor reviews can spread very quickly over social media.

He advised companies to look at what business partners and consumers are saying about them and stressed the need for a swift response to any negative publicity.

Mr Petty pointed out that bad news is likely to spread faster than good.
