Bespoke website design 'should have keywords early in the title'

Websites can improve their search engine optimisation (SEO) performance by placing keywords early on in the title, it has been said.

A blog post for SEO Consult pointed out that viewers will be drawn immediately to the headline of a page.

Writers should make sure that keywords appear early on in the first line.

It may also be useful to break up copy into paragraphs with subheadings and use highlighting in order to make the text easier to read.

Graphic designers should decide on individual bases whether or not to use images beneath titles, as the potential benefits of this depend largely on the intended audience.

Ian Hughes of iMedia Connection recently suggested grouping keywords together within certain themes.

He explained that this could help visitors to the site find exactly what they are looking for and prevent the need to create an optimised page for every search term.

Mr Hughes added that grouping words together would save time in the SEO process.
