Firms that have blogs have been urged to make the most of them for search engine optimisation (SEO).
A blog post for SEO Consult pointed out that blogs are, by their very nature, good for SEO because they provide constant fresh content.
However, to be used to their maximum capacity, they also need to put across relevant and interesting information and are also good ways of including long-tail keywords in copy.
Such phrases should be used a couple of times per post.
Readers will not be interested in copy that is stuffed with keywords as it will not parse well.
The publication stressed that while search engines need to be attracted, blog posts must read well to human visitors.
Previously, SEO Consult has noted that Twitter can also be used for optimisation purposes and stressed the effect re-tweeting can have.
It may, however, be difficult to optimise the 140-character tweets.
