Good speed 'important for bespoke websites'

Loading pages quickly is an important factor for bespoke websites, according to experts.

Fresh Business Thinking reported a round table discussion held in Manchester in which industry professionals identified speed as a crucial element for successful search engine optimisation (SEO).

Page loading times are becoming more important for Google when placing sites in its search rankings and several experts noted this.

Lawrence Jones of UKFast observed: "It is a given that content is very important but now it is about the delivery of that content."

The professionals also agreed among themselves that a working SEO strategy needs to be developed consistently over a period of time and not simply implemented at one point.

Advertising Age recently gave a number of predictions for internet trends over the course of this year.

This included a rise in online video advertising and an increased need for firms to be savvy with social media.
