Improved bespoke web design 'will benefit consumers in 2010'

30th December 2009

Tailor made websites will be better designed to improve online shopping experiences in 2010, according to an industry professional.

Chris Russell, head of eDigitalResearch, made predictions about internet consumerism for the new year.

He believes that it will see an "enhanced reputation" and "improve the user experience".

Mr Russell foresees more advanced website features such as better search facilities and stock availability options to make internet shopping more efficient.

In addition, he believes that video and images will be more prominent.

Recent data from the Interactive Media in Retail Group has shown that December 7th was the busiest day in the UK in 2009 for online shopping.

At 13.43 on that day, £1.4 million was spent over the internet in a minute.

It was a 61 per cent increase on the amount spent in the busiest online minute one year previously.

A peak in sales was recorded between 13:00 and 14:00, with £33 million being transacted in that hour.
