Interactive social media map may be useful to bespoke web designers

24th December 2009

Firms may be able to use a social media map to tailor their bespoke websites for the greatest effect.

The World Map of Social Networks, first launched in June, shows that Facebook tops the social media world as the biggest social networking website in 100 countries out of 127.

Bespoke web design in Britain should consider the site's influence as it easily dominates the UK.

Facebook has even taken over in many places that do not speak English and has usurped other networks such as Maktoob, which was popular in various Arab countries.

However, some countries have not yet succumbed to Facebook.

QQ remains dominant in China and V Kontakte is the top choice for Russia, to give two examples.

Sienna Farris recently wrote in AdWeek that social media will become crucial for companies next year.

However, despite Facebook's popularity, she noted that social media strategies need to involve more than simply creating a page on the networking site.
