High quality text is a crucial factor in getting conversions on a bespoke website.
This is the claim made by David Harry in an article for Search Engine Journal.
He explained that copy on a website needs to offer "professionalism, unique selling proposition and call to action", adding that text creates "buyer motivation".
Mr Harry also listed a number of other factors that affect conversions, such as offering value-adding incentives and ensuring that web design is user friendly.
A poorly designed website will lose business and cause shoppers to abandon their carts, he pointed out.
In addition, he highlighted the need for keyword targeting, link building and meta-descriptions for search engine optimisation (SEO) purposes.
Meanwhile, SEO expert Jonathan Lawoyin told BtoB magazine that search engines are getting better at detecting web pages that exist to sell links and will penalise them in the search results.
He urged firms not to simply purchase links as part of a bespoke web design strategy.
