Users may become disenchanted with music streaming service Spotify if they have to pay for it.
This is the belief of Jonathan Shingler, research analyst for GfK Technology.
He explained that Spotify's appeal is largely from the fact that it allows people to listen to the songs of their choice conveniently and over the internet without charge.
For this reason, the fact that only premium account holders who pay can access it on a mobile "to some extent defeats the object".
Another possible problem is that people like to own their music and needing internet access all the time may prevent Spotify from getting a firm hold in mobile applications development.
Mr Shingler was speaking as Spotify released its application for the mobile phone operating system Symbian.
Spotify's new offering works on mid to high-end Nokia smartpghnes as well as certain Samsung and Sony Ericsson ones that run on Symbian.
