Rich content will drive the increasing growth of mobile applications development, according to an author.
Writing for Linux Magazine, Frank Abieson noted how mobile applications have advanced significantly from being text-only products.
He noted that as mobile devices have become able to take more rich content, both they and the apps themselves would carry on growing.
Mr Abieson recommended to mobile application developers that, when adapting a service for phones, they start with the basic elements and listen to users to find out what other features should be included.
He pointed out that the smaller screens and keyboards on mobile phones necessitate design differences between desktop and mobile services.
Recent research by media law company Olswang has found that people who possess iPhones are the most likely to be prepared to pay for digital content.
Partner at the firm Matthew Phillips suggested that these people had experience of the ease of making payments for iPhone apps.
