Blogging 'should be part of website design'

25th November 2009

Website design should include blogging to assist a social media strategy.

This is the claim made by Trevor Ginn in an Econsultancy blog post.

Quoting research from Hitwise which showed that just 31 per cent of the main ecommerce retailers in the UK use blogging and social bookmarking, Mr Ginn outlined the basics of social media and included these two tactics in the list.

He also informed firms that they should set up a presence on Facebook and Twitter, as well as including rich media content such as photos and video.

In addition, Hitwise found that only 25 per cent of the top British internet retailers use product reviews, which Mr Ginn recommended.

Another Econsultancy blogger, Kevin Gibbons, recently used an entry to urge firms to make regular reviews of their social media strategy.

He explained that time-sensitive websites should analyse keywords every day, while other businesses may not wish to do it too often.
