Text in website design needs to be adapted to suit people skimming it, according to a professional.
Writing for the Summit Daily News, Erin Pheil explained that most internet users scan web pages rather than reading them thoroughly.
She explained that while web copy may be high quality, if it is not broken up into small, skimmable sections, it is unlikely that many people will read it properly.
Ms Pheil urged web design workers to use headlines to help readers locate the information they want and to "chunk it up' by breaking the text into smaller sections.
Another tip was to use bulletpoints for data such as products and clients.
Peter Crisafi recently urged businesses to ensure that their website design accommodates the diversity of the internet.
He observed that search marketing is no longer restricted to organic and paid searches and pointed out that video sharing site YouTube is the second most major search engine.
