Small companies can all benefit from incorporating social media into their web development programme, according to a professional.
Internet marketer Janak Mehta told business conference MichiganWorks! that social media marketing is free to use and advised small and local firms to ensure they establish themselves on the major networks.
He explained that firms can find new customers on social networking site and suggested using Facebook fan pages to keep people aware of the latest news.
Companies can use the communication channel to answer questions, offer advice and invite feedback, interacting with customers and listening to them.
"All small local business professional can really use social media," the Monroe News quoted Mr Mehta as saying.
Earlier this week, Lee Williams told NZBUsiness that social media is "the big online development of the last couple of years" and said that it is "terrific" for interacting with customers.
He also highlighted the importance of search engine optimisation in bespoke website design.
