Many websites belonging to smaller firms are suffering from faults in the web design, new research has shown.
According to Streamline.net 83 per cent of the 1,700 users polled experienced problems relating to web errors.
Broken links and URLs and webpages which have not been finished are among the common mistakes smaller ecommerce websites are making.
In addition, a third of 450 British firms surveyed said that they do not maintain their websites properly.
Many businesses are also not advertising themselves to their best ability.
Nearly half (48 per cent) of companies do not try to optimise their web address for search engines and only ten per cent of smaller businesses show their website address on their vehicles.
Steve Holford of Streamline.net warned that websites could lose business from users if their web design is below par.
Write About Property recently outlined some common errors made in search engine optimisation strategies.
These included not writing meta descriptions well and not making use of keywords in page titles.
