Growth of mobile applications will continue over next year as an ecommerce trend, a new study predicts.
FFP Global's report, 10 Ecommerce Trends for 2010, forecasts that mobile applications will continue to become an even bigger part of the ecommerce sector.
"Just as ecommerce sites have contributed to sales in physical stores, we will see more aggressive pushes by mobile applications to drive ecommerce sales," the organisation stated.
Other trends identified in the report include the growing number of communication channels for customer support and the need for ecommerce businesses to maintain an image that is relevant to their market.
Chief executive officer of FFP Global Elise Chow said that while ecommerce has generally been though to empower consumers by letting them compare information, her organisation believes e-retailers get "considerable clout" through methods of obtaining data and social media.
Joanna Perry recently used a Retail Week article to report that many retail professionals do not believe ecommerce to be an optional approach any more.
Instead, they believe it is vital to invest in it in order to maintain a good business.
