The importance of keeping longer sentences in website copy has been stressed by a professional.
In a blog post for Stuck On, a writer identified as Matt refuted claims in other blogs that short sentences are best for search engine optimisation (SEO).
While agreeing that users need to have their attention captured quickly, Matt said that bloggers who urged websites to use short sentences only were misguided.
He explained that not only do longer sentences have better semantics, but the presence of more words gives more information to search engine spiders and therefore helps them to ascertain a webpage's relevance.
"The more information present, the more variables that are present, the easier any search algorithm will find it indexing and categorising your content," Matt stated.
Stuart Tofts recently used an SEOptimise article to stress the importance of outlining clear targets for an SEO strategy.
He said increasing traffic or upping sales might be among the intended goals.
