Copy must not be badly written just to get keywords in, an industry figure has stated.
In an article for the SEO Consult blog, a writer known as James warned that clumsy, badly written copy will not do well in search rankings even if it contains keywords.
He explained that search engines have adapted to favour well-written and relevant content.
"A good piece of optimised content will not be a series of keywords strung together in a clunky sentence," James noted.
He highlighted the importance of good content on a website and warned that not optimising it is "a bad use of business assets".
Search Engine Land blogger Galen DeYoung recently said that corporate business to business blogs should not make use of existing keyword strategy but optimise the content for new keywords.
This increases the possibilities of being found through search engines.
He also stressed the importance of having in-site links on all pages of a website, as searchers could land on any one of them.
