Ecommerce owners need to take a long-term view of their search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies, an expert has stated.
In an article for the Coast Digital blog, Rebecca Wheeler explained that SEO can take months to bring in measurable changes.
She explained that it is not a short-term fix for websites and a time investment needs to be made in such a strategy.
Ms Wheeler also urged people to keep a look out for self-proclaimed experts in SEO who may lack the proper knowledge and understanding of the field.
Rogers Cadenhead recently defended the SEO profession on his Watching the Watchers blog.
He called it "essential" to smaller companies as it helps them to be discovered on search engines.
"Most SEO techniques are about learning how Google works, not trying to game it appropriately," he wrote, adding that expert SEO assistance would be a priority for him if he ran a firm that could afford it.
