Real-time content is drawing closer for websites, according to a professional.
Jared Salter, founder of Joobili, told m-travel that the local destination content of websites would be significantly impacted upon by the emerging trend.
"First we had the static web, then the social web and now we are seeing the early stages of the real-time web," he explained.
He noted that local content in websites tends to be unchanging as it deals with matters such as local attractions.
Subjects such as prices and weather, however, are liable to change a lot.
The expert also acknowledged the importance of keeping content fresh but noted that this would come at a cost.
Meanwhile, Chris Silver Smith has used a Search Engine Land article to suggest that websites dealing in local content use custom maps.
"There are all sorts of useful custom maps that one could provide about local areas," he wrote, explaining that a lot of detail can be used in them.
