How ecommerce websites can improve use of video

12th October 2009

Video content can be optimised for use in websites to improve their performance, industry professionals have stated.

In an article for WebProNews, Chris Crum reported some advice given by a number of speakers at the Search Marketing Expo East.

The tips included using the word "video" as well as keywords in filenames and using only one video for each URL.

Navigational links should also be used to bring visitors to the video, while relevant articles can be placed on the same page as well.

Allowing subscriptions to videos was another tip given by the professionals.

The experts who gave the advice were Eric Papczun, William Leake and John McWeeny.

Brand Republic also reports comments given by Errol Baran regarding online video.

Speaking at the AOP summit, the Channel 4 professional said that online video is a "very young marketplace".

He suggested that publishing video online is not a short-term solution to making money but could work on a long-term basis.
