Website creation is part of a new promotion to encourage people to visit Dorchester.
Promote Dorchester is a community interest firm working to stimulate tourism to the county town.
A new website forms part of its campaign.
This will be used not only to publicise certain community events and help organisers to avoid coinciding with each other, but also to encourage people from all over the world to find out more about the town.
Promote Dorchester is now asking locals how the website can be used to market the town.
Alistair Chisholm, president of the chamber of commerce, told the Dorset Echo: "We want to hear people's ideas so we can finish up with a top-class website."
Website visitors will be able to use a number of tools including a virtual tour.
Attractions in Dorset, according to Visit Dorchester, include the Thomas Hardy Walk and the Roman Town Walk to take in areas of interest.
