Web designers have been warned of a number of mistakes often made in ecommerce websites.
In a Drop Ship article, Amanda Brooke said that unattractive web design would put off customers and cited bad colour schemes and lack of trust symbols as two errors to avoid.
She also observed that ecommerce shoppers have short attention spans and are likely to go away if they have to go through a lot of processes in order to register.
"Take a hard look at your shopping cart and checkout process," she suggested.
Ms Brooke stressed the need for URLs that will be found by search crawlers as well and recommended using word-based rather than number-based ones.
A recent article on Write About Property listed other errors that may occur in web design.
These included not using keywords in page titles and not making the most of meta descriptions.
Both these mistakes can have a bad effect on SEO.
