Samsung has made its first Android handset available to users in the UK.
The i7500 Galaxy is available on O2 and features a five-megapixel camera, a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 8GB of memory and a suite of mobile services provided by Google.
It is claimed to be the slimmest Android touchscreen device available in the UK at the moment, as it is 11.9 millimetres thick.
Samsung is also readying a new mobile app store for Europe, which will open later this month.
The store will initially launch in the UK, France and Italy and will be able to be accessed by users with phones running on the Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems.
Some 300 apps are expected to be available through the new store upon its launch, with Samsung forecasting several thousand to be included by the end of this year.
The company will launch similar stores in other international markets in the future, although it has not specified when this will occur.
