Large images and fonts are the order of the day in the world of ecommerce web design, it has been suggested.
According to Armando Roggio of Practical eCommerce, web designers are making greater use of larger-than-life logos, text and pictures to emphasise online retailers' product offerings.
This means that small logos, images and fonts are no longer in vogue, he explained.
"To maintain a modern and aesthetically pleasing look, web designers should examine current trends, estimate their staying power and implement those techniques that will have the best and longest effects," Mr Roggio remarked.
He also highlighted the use of content sliders and rich internet applications built with Adobe Flash as other key trends in the ecommerce website design sector.
A recent study by Amaze and the University of Glasgow found that 87 per cent of online shoppers abandon their baskets without buying - something that could point to a need for better ecommerce web design.
