TomTom has hinted that it may launch a satnav mobile application for Android after it recently unveiled such an app for the iPhone.
Speaking to Pocket-lint, Benoit Simery of TomTom said that the company is unable to ignore the success of the Android platform.
TomTom has previously worked with HTC to bring the TomTom 7 app to Windows Mobile phones.
"HTC is an important partner of ours and Android is becoming increasingly important too," Mr Simery said.
The TomTom for iPhone app was launched yesterday (August 17th) and costs £59.99 or £79.99 to download, depending on which map is chosen.
It includes a continental map of Europe or a map of the UK and Ireland provided by Tele Atlas and information on safety cameras in 11 countries across Europe.
Users can harness multi-touch gestures such as tap, swipe, pinch and zoom to interact with the app and conduct searches for specific points of interest.
