Businesses looking to up their game during the recession should make sure their websites are up to scratch.
This is according to Alistair Gibb, author of How to Beat the Recession, who said in a column for Real Business that websites must be kept as up to date as possible to avoid turning away potential custom during the economic downturn.
"If you're going to beat the recession, make sure your website looks professional," he commented.
"Real turnoffs are 'Copyright 2003' in a footer and so-called news that is out of date."
Mr Gibb went on to advise using websites to inspire confidence in customers that they are making the right product choice.
He suggested including content such as quotes from satisfied customers and explanations of exactly what the company does to make the most of the online medium.
Earlier this year, a poll by Fasthosts revealed that 27 per cent of UK businesses are unhappy with their website's design.
