Simplicity is the key to good mobile e-commerce web design, it has been suggested.
According to Graham Charlton of Econsultancy, mobile websites offering shopping capabilities need to be easy to find via search engines and should prominently display a site search box as there is less room for navigation options.
He also advises offering good sorting and filtering options for products and sticking to a clear and simple page layout that uses only the most essential content and graphics.
"Translating the desktop shopping experience to mobiles isn't easy and keeping it simple and usable is important for users with small screens and often slow internet connections," Mr Charlton remarked.
According to comScore, social networks and search engines are among the most visited mobile websites by users in Europe.
Other popular mobile destinations include weather sites, online news portals, sports websites and sites belonging to entertainment news publications, the research company's figures show.
