E-commerce website owners should make it as easy as possible for shoppers to leave product reviews on their sites.
This is according to Linda Bustos of the Get Elastic blog, who explains that customer reviews are often more trusted by shoppers than website copy provided by the retailer itself.
As such, it is important that online retailers encourage the posting of reviews whenever possible by doing away with the need to register before writing a review, she says.
"Customers are willing to enhance your product pages out of the goodness of their hearts. Make it easy for them," Ms Bustos commented.
Earlier this year, a study by Opinion Research found that 84 per cent of US consumers have previously been influenced by a customer review when considering whether or not to buy a particular product online.
Two-thirds of respondents to the poll said they looked up online reviews when thinking about a potential purchase.
