Google launches slew of new mobile services

16th July 2009

Google has launched a number of new mobile services and tools for its users, including Google Voice for Android and BlackBerry devices.

US users of the app can send text messages and make outgoing calls from their Google Voice number on their Android and BlackBerry handsets.

Google said that it is currently working on a version of the tool for iPhone devices.

The search engine has additionally launched a new feature for Google Maps for Mobile that allows users to see lists of favourite places compiled by public figures and local experts for particular cities and towns.

Desktop PC users are also able to access the new offering from their computers.

Another new service unveiled by Google this week is Search with My Location for iPhone 3.0, which lets users search for local businesses without specifying a location if they enable their handsets to automatically detect where they are at a given moment.

The tool is currently available in English to users in the UK and the US.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19268702-ADNFCR
