Android's share of the mobile platform sector is holding steady, according to a new study.
The latest Pulse report from mobile analytics firm Flurry shows that Android has maintained its percentage share despite the fact that the number of developers, applications and consumers in Flurry's network has risen threefold since March.
"While the iPhone still dominates the application market, Google Android has managed to prevent Apple from widening the gap," Peter Farago of Flurry said in a blog post.
Flurry suggested that Android is "well-positioned to chip away at [the] iPhone's dominant growth" as a result of forecasts indicating that 20 more new Android devices will go on sale this year and that developers are finding it difficult to compete for downloads as more apps are added to the Apple App Store.
According to research firm Strategy Analytics, it is likely that shipments of Android phones will increase by 900 per cent this year.
