The latest version of the Firefox browser has been made available to web users after being in development for almost a year.
Firefox 3.5 was originally intended to be version 3.1 of the open source browser but was delayed after the sheer wealth of new features and technology intended for the product meant it needed more work.
Among the browser's new features are a private browsing mode, support for the video and audio HTML 5 elements and a new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
It also comes with location-aware capabilities for developers and supports a number of new web technologies, including downloadable fonts and CSS media queries.
In a review of the browser, Preston Gralla of IDG called Firefox 3.5 "a winner", praising its faster performance and improved handling of tabs.
He said: "If you already use Firefox you'll want to upgrade right away. If you're not a Firefox user, this version represents a very good opportunity to give the browser a test run."
