B2B sites 'need to do more to improve SEO'

1st July 2009

Some business-to-business (B2B) websites are falling down when it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO), according to a new survey by MarketingSherpa.

The online marketing resource asked agencies to rate their clients on how well they perform website management tasks such as implementing SEO, using web analytics and updating web pages.

About 13 per cent of agencies said their clients performed to a high standard in terms of SEO, while 22 per cent said they did a good job and 30 per cent assessed their work as adequate.

Another major area of failure for B2B clients was found to be updating web pages efficiently and on schedule.

MarketingSherpa said: "These tasks are critical to web marketing effectiveness and, if not well managed internally, can be easily and inexpensively outsourced."

A recent survey by Arketi Group suggested that B2B firms should concentrate on SEO when targeting journalists that they want to cover their activities and events, despite the fact that many news writers rate social media highly in terms of its impact on the B2B reporting sector.

The poll found that 95 per cent of journalists use web search when browsing the internet, the highest proportion out of all of the other online activities mentioned in the study.ADNFCR-2036-ID-19245552-ADNFCR
