YouTube has revealed that uploads made to its pages with mobile phones have soared by 400 per cent a day since the iPhone 3GS was launched last week.
Released on June 19th, the new iPhone features a long-awaited video recording capability, as well as a compass and parental controls for apps, films and TV shows.
According to Dwipal Desai and Mia Quagliarello of YouTube, mobile video uploads to the site have surged by 1,700 per cent in the last six months, thanks to a new breed of video-enabled phones being launched, as well as a new feature allowing YouTube users to link their accounts to social networks for easy sharing.
"Already, you're teaching each other how to use this technology, you're doing product reviews and comparisons, and you're making test videos - lots and lots of them," they said on the YouTube blog.
More than one million iPhone 3GS handsets were sold in the first weekend of its availability, according to Apple.
