New HTC Android phone confirmed for UK

24th June 2009

The HTC Hero is to become the latest Android-powered mobile phone to be made available in the UK and Europe, it has been announced.

At a London press conference today (June 24th), HTC confirmed that the handset will be launched in July in Europe and later in the summer in Asia. A "distinct" version of the phone for North America will be released later this year.

The phone features the new HTC Sense user interface and a 3.2-inch HVGA display, as well as specifications such as AGPS, a digital compass, a gravity sensor and a five-megapixel autofocus camera.

It also has a dedicated search button that HTC claims offers a more contextual, natural experience by providing options for searching contact lists, Twitter, emails and more.

The HTC Hero will be available on Orange in the UK in early July.

Francois Mahieu, director of devices for Orange UK, said: "The first of several Android devices you can expect from us this year, we believe the Hero is a great all-round device."ADNFCR-2036-ID-19233836-ADNFCR
