Adobe has revealed that it is preparing a beta version of Flash Player 10 for smartphones - including the Android platform.
Shantanu Naraye, chief executive of Adobe, said in a recent earnings call that the player will be launched this October and will also be available for the Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm Web OS platforms.
"We are bringing Flash Player 10 to smartphone class devices to enable the latest web browsing experience. Multiple partners have already received [an] early version of this release," he commented.
The desktop version of Flash Player 10 was installed on over 55 per cent of all computers globally during the first two months after its release.
Flash Player content reaches more than 98 per cent of web-enabled desktops at present, according to Adobe.
A range of new Flash tools for developers - including Flash Builder 4 and Flash Catalyst - were unveiled by Adobe earlier this month.
