Apple's latest version of the iPhone has got a head start over rival 3G touchscreen phone the Nokia N97 thanks to the internet, it has been reported.
The iPhone's website was the most sought out of all mobile phones last week, with searches online for the iPhone considerably outflanking Nokia's latest move into the smartphone world, according to the latest data compiled by online search monitor Hitwise.
The company's Hot Consumer Electronics List for the week ending June 13th revealed the iPhone took 24.8 per cent of the market share, with Nokia's N97 coming a distant second with just 3.6 per cent of all searches for mobile phones in the UK.
However, Robin Goad, research director at Hitwise, explained in his blog that the figures could be slightly deceptive because Apple does not give its iPhones such specific names as its rivals.
This could suggest some clever marketing by the people at Apple, because the generic iPhone term is more likely to be searched more often than specific phone names.
Apple unveiled its newest version of the iPhone earlier this month, which it claimed is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet.
