Search engine giant Google has announced a new addition to its Flash indexing system that is designed to improve functionality for website users.
The company has revealed that it has added external resource loading to its Flash indexing capabilities, meaning when a SWF file loads content from some other file, the external content can now also be indexed.
This will be the case regardless of whether the external file is text, HTML, XML, another SWF, or any other type, Google stated on its blog.
"This new capability improves search quality by allowing relevant content contained in external resources to appear in response to users' queries," the search engine explained.
It appears the move has come about as a result of increasing pressure from users for Google to improve its Flash indexing capabilities.
In June last year, the company's blog revealed it had received "numerous requests to improve our indexing of Adobe Flash files" and Google experts sought to answer questions on the issue from its blog readers.
